Work Experience

2016 – Current – Lieutenant, Community Safety, Strathcona County Emergency Services

  • Designed and implemented a risk-based inspection program that enhanced community safety by promoting code compliance through education. This program, along with additional risk reduction strategies involving fire protection contractors and mobile food vendors, has attracted interest at both the provincial level and from external municipalities.
  • The portfolio encompasses managing the risk-based inspection program, conducting fire investigations, training, leadership development and support to large incidents.

2014 – 2016 – Fire Chief, Agirum Fertilizer Operations (Redwater / Ft. Saskatchewan)

  • Led fire safety and emergency response, overseeing prevention audits, risk-specific response plans, regulatory compliance, and personnel management. Coordinated training to ensure a skilled team for industrial emergencies, including chemical spills, fires, technical rescues, and dangerous goods ERAP responses.
  • Responsible for coordinating and training members of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to ensure they are prepared to manage industrial crises effectively. Including organizing regular training sessions, developing scenario-based exercises, and conducting simulations that test the facility’s emergency response plans.

1996 – 2014 – Deputy Platoon Chief, Canadian Armed Forces (Fire Service)

  • Preserved life by promptly responding to various calls for service, provided emergency medical responder actions for trauma, combated and extinguished structural, wildland and aircraft fires, performed aircraft rescues, and effectively dealt with situations involving hazardous materials at the technician level.
  • Development and implementation of the maintenance and training programs within the platoon to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
